Dr. Claridge is internationally known for his work over the last 20 years directing the development and participating in the implementation of the Continuous Commissioning® process for improving the comfort and energy efficiency of buildings. It has been applied in several hundred large buildings that include higher education facilities, military facilities, medical facilities, and office buildings. He has made major contributions to the analysis of heat transfer between buildings and ground and to the analysis of air leakage in buildings. He is also a world leader in development and application of measurement and verification techniques to determine savings from efficiency projects.

He has taught numerous commissioning workshops and is the author of over 400 journal and conference papers and holds 12 patents. He had 10 years of experience in the HVAC field, prior to coming to Texas A&M in 1986. He frequently gives presentations at national and international conferences and is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and of ASHRAE and is active nationally in both societies.

Dr. Claridge has over 400 publications, including technical journals, books, book chapters, and conference publications, including over 100 dealing with monitoring of buildings, analysis of monitored building data, or building diagnostics. He is also an author of well over 100 reports. In addition, Dr. Claridge has been the P.I. or Co-P.I. on over $45 million in projects and has advised 70 completed M.S. and 14 Ph.D. degrees.

His professional services include serving as President of the ASHRAE College of Fellows, Deputy Editor of the International Journal of Energy Research, Director or Technical Program Chairman of six ASHRAE conferences, Technical Chair of the ASHRAE 2015 Annual Meeting in Atlanta, part of the ASHRAE Guideline Project Committee 0.2 The Systems Commissioning Process for Existing Buildings, and Editorial Board of the Journal of Building Performance and Simulation. In addition, he served as a member of numerous ASHRAE and ASME committees, including the ASHRAE Conference and Expositions Committee and ASHRAE Conference and Expositions Executive Committee, and was Chair of ASHRAE Special Publications Committee, ASHRAE TC 4.7 Energy Calculations Committee, and ASME Solar Energy Division.
